Meet the Team
Van Helton
Hi there! I’m Van Helton, Agency Principal here at Helton Insurance Group. My insurance career actually started right here in 2006, when I joined the family business as an administrative assistant. Under the tutelage of my father and our incredible office staff, I spent the next several years learning nearly every role in the agency — Personal Lines Customer Service Representative, Commercial Lines Customer Service Representative, Agent, Office Manager — before eventually stepping into agency leadership, where I’ve now served as Agency Principal for the past ten years. This year, I officially hit the 20-year mark in this industry, and looking back, I can honestly say the time has flown.
If there’s one thing that’s kept me hooked for two decades, it’s that this industry never stands still. Between evolving business exposures, shifting personal risks, and new financial solutions, there’s rarely a day that goes by without learning something new — and I happen to love that. (Who doesn’t love a good challenge?) These days, I also have the privilege of serving as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Professional Agents of Kentucky, a role that keeps me connected to where our industry is headed and how we can best serve our clients because of it.
Outside the office, I’m a family man through and through. I’m married to my wife, Mandy (I married up, and I know it), and together we’re keeping life interesting with our twin sons, Vance and Brycen, and our daughter, Addison. If you can’t find me at the office, there’s a decent chance I’m about 5,000 feet in the air in a Cessna 172 or Cessna 150 — I earned my private pilot certificate a few years back and I’m currently working toward my instrument rating, with an eventual goal of becoming a certified flight instructor. It’s also given me a front-row, firsthand appreciation for just how important the right coverage is for our aviation clients.
When I’m not at the office or in the air, you’ll usually find me reading up on aviation or world history, gaming, or catching a movie with the family.

Sharon Nell Boyken
Hi, I’m Sharon Nell Boyken, Agency Administrator here at Helton Insurance Group, where I oversee our day-to-day operations and bookkeeping. My insurance career started back in 1999, when, at a young age, I got my start as a data analyst. From there, I made the move into commercial lines, where I worked my way up to handling large, complex accounts — including large school boards and contractors — before eventually transitioning into agency management and administration. Altogether, I bring more than 30 years of insurance expertise to the table, with deep experience across all types of commercial insurance and bonding. I joined the Helton Insurance family in February 2012.
I was born and raised in Madisonville, KY, and graduated from Owensboro Junior College of Business in 1991. Today, I live in Livermore, KY, with my husband, Tony, and our dog, Flo. I’m proud to serve as Mayor of Livermore, and I’m an active member at Ridgewood Baptist Church in Owensboro, where Tony serves as pastor. I’m also a member of the MCPL DIY Ladies group.
Family means everything to me. I have two married sons, Caleb (and his wife, Ashley) and Josh (and his wife, Mallory), along with four grandchildren — Jack, Harlan, Joanna, and Gerard — who keep me on my toes. In my free time, I love sewing, true crime, and traveling. I’m always up for an adventure!
Julie Hawley
Hi, I’m Julie Hawley, Commercial Lines Account Manager and Claims Facilitator here at Helton Insurance Agency, Inc. I’ve spent more than 25 years in the insurance industry, including 10 years handling personal liability claims for a large insurer, with the rest of my career built in customer service and personal lines sales. I joined the Helton Insurance family in February 2017, after relocating to Kentucky in December 2015 from the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas.
These days, I call Calhoun, KY home, where I live with my husband, Ryan, and our two children, Shelby and Jack. We’re active members of Calhoun Baptist Church, and in our free time, you’ll usually find us camping or spending as much time as possible at the beach. When I get a little time to myself, I enjoy reading, taking care of my chickens, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Haliee Dukes
Hi, I’m Haliee Rose Dukes, one of the Personal Lines Account Managers here at Helton Insurance Agency, Inc. I started my insurance journey with the team in September 2023. Before joining the Helton family, I worked in the behavioral health field, caring for both adults and children. That experience shaped the way I show up for my clients today — the same compassion and patience I brought to caregiving now drives how I listen, advocate, and make sure every person I work with feels genuinely taken care of, with a goal of finding the best solution for whatever they’re facing.
I was born in Georgia but moved to Kentucky at the age of three, and I now call Calhoun home. I live here with my fiancé, Jacob Buergey, our daughter, Leighton, and quite the houseful of pets: our two Aussies, Rosie and Gunner, our Yoranian, Mango, our cats, Peanut and Hazel, and our chinchilla, Quincy. In my free time, I love traveling to new places, heading to the beach, fishing on our boat, catching a football game, and pretty much anything outdoors.
Chris Shaver
Hi, I’m Chris Shaver, Personal Lines Assistant here at Helton Insurance Group. I joined the Helton team in 2024, bringing with me 2 years of insurance experience from another agency — and between that and my time here, I now have about 5 years total in the insurance industry, on top of 25 years in banking and finance before that. That background has given me a solid foundation for helping people navigate their coverage and finances with confidence.
I was born in Muhlenberg County and raised in Owensboro, KY, where I attended Daviess County High School before going on to graduate from Western Kentucky University. It was at WKU where I met my wife, Stephanie — we’ve now been married more than 30 years. Together we have two amazing adult children, Hunter and Hadley, and two precious grandchildren, Banks and Bennett. Hunter and his family live in Murfreesboro, TN, while Hadley is currently attending pharmacy school at the University of Kentucky. Stephanie and I are active members of Owensboro Christian Church.
When I’m not at the office, you’ll usually find me spending time with the kids, fishing, traveling, or watching a good football game.
Terri Yewell
Hi, I’m Terri Yewell, Life, Health & Benefits Administrator here at Helton Insurance Group. I’ve had the privilege of working in the insurance industry for more than 40 years, and I’ve called Helton home since 2010. Throughout my career, my focus has stayed the same: providing trusted guidance and building real, lasting relationships with the people and families I serve — because I genuinely want what’s best for you, the same as I’d want for my own.
Outside of work, my family is everything to me. I’m a proud mom to my two daughters, Cristin and Bailie, and an even prouder grandmother to my three grandchildren, Conner, Adalynn, and Cannon. When I’m not soaking up time with them, you can usually find me relaxing at our lake home on Lake Barkley — there’s nowhere I’d rather unwind.
Bailey Case
Hi, I’m Bailey Case, Commercial Lines Assistant here at Helton Insurance Group. I joined the team in June 2025, bringing seven years of customer service experience with me, and I’m excited to keep building on that foundation in this new chapter of my career.
I’m a lifelong resident of McLean County, and community and connection matter to me in everything I do. I’ve been with my fiancé and high school sweetheart, Jaden, for seven years now, and together we have Champ, our six-year-old beagle.
In my free time, I love making memories with friends and family — whether that’s kayaking, swimming, taking a trip, having a DIY night, or just relaxing with a movie on the couch. When I get a quiet moment to myself, you’ll usually find me curled up with a good book, especially a thriller, mystery, or anything with a juicy murder plot.

Hi, I’m Todd Devine, Agent here at Helton Insurance Group. I’ve spent more than 20 years in the insurance industry, specializing in property and casualty as well as life insurance solutions. Throughout my career, I’ve stayed committed to delivering tailored risk management strategies for both individual and commercial clients, building my career around serving their diverse and evolving needs.
I’m a former member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a recognition reserved for top performers in the life insurance industry — an honor that reflects my commitment to ethical standards, client service, and consistent performance throughout my career. I’m a lifelong resident of Sacramento, KY. My fiancée, Lisa Carol Tucker, and I enjoy following all kinds of sports, traveling, and spending time with our children and grandchildren.
